I'm looking for groups who would do a convocation for elementary students on the history, science, and hobby of kite flying. If you only want to come and fly kites for us, that's ok too!

Hello fellow flyers! I am one of 14 known kiteboarders in MN, and am looking for more recruits. I will have a new website devoted to "extreme" sports (including kite flying) up in about 1.5 weeks, so stay tuned!
By the way, does anyone know where there are some wide open spots in MN (besides frozen lakes) to go kiteboarding?

Alan - In Gallery 1 of the AKA Convention photos, the school bus was a windsock made by Bob & Charmayne Umbowers of Gig Harbor, WA. I met them on the field at the convention. I am new to this by about 4 months. I think I am alone out here except for a flyer in Hudson. I plan to do some indoor flying this winter and am looking for any direction, since I am on my own. Great Site, Alan! Information that I can enjoy, and use. Hey, I actually know some of the people in those pictures. Or, maybe I just recognize their kites. Will be talking with you soon about NW Indiana and the Co. Murray Memorial Kite Festival. (No wind last year.. ;-( Region Six and the Hoosier state have alot to be proud of with a great convention!

Hi, Alan! I had a great time at the convention in Muncie! I enjoyed the competitions and mass ascensions at the AMA field, the Fly Market, and banquets. Unfortunately, I didn't get inside the convention center enough to take in many of the workshops or seminars (except for a few minutes in Jose Sainz's sewing lecture). If I make it to Maryland in 2001, I'll have to attend some of them.
